Sophia Eerden wedding photographer and outdoor photographer

Outdoor photographer in Innsbruck

Hi, i'm Sophia!

The way we perceive the world has always fascinated me. At a younger age, I noticed how much more aware I was of my surroundings when I, ironically, looked through the small viewer of my camera. As if we the whole landscape around me would come to life and show me it's shapes, lines, shadows and lights. This, combined with my ever interest in the mountains and my talent for connecting with people, has led me to a place where I can create images in nature, for and with people.

I aim to create realistic images in which people recognise the landscape as it is. The images speak to the imagination and they invite viewers to picture themselves right there, in the scene. My editing style is clean: the eye can relax into to image, blue is blue and green is green.

The wild nature is always right in front of me, which helps to let creativity flow. A big part of outdoor photography is to be in the right place at the right time. Being based in Innsbruck means that I have a good feeling of the current conditions in the mountains. Additionally, my background as a Human Movement Scientist (MSc.), a ski instructor (level 3) and a mountain hiking guide is also incredibly valuably in order to put all the pieces of a production puzzle together. This way, I can always make sure we are ready to roll when the light is right!

My images encourage people to immerse themselves in nature

My photos invite people to immerse themselves in nature and bring nature closer to the people. Nature is not a scary monster, it is where we come from and where we belong. It brings us comfort, inspiration, a sense of belonging and the feeling of humbleness. By spending time in nature, we find our strengths and superpowers. We can slowly disconnect from the things we usually strongly hold on to, that we think define ourselves, but once we look passed this avatar, we find out who we truly are.

In a fast-paced world, we rush from appointment to appointment and from thought to thought. Does it never end? Yes, but then it starts all over again.

In the mountains, there are no appointments, there is nowhere else to be. Surely there are thoughts, but the nature of these thoughts change after having spend only a few hours in the outdoors. They slowly transform from being hyperactive into having a meaningful dialogue with our selves, and eventually, the few thoughts that are left are a true reflection of who we really are. We all have experienced this and some might call it a flow, or being fully present in the moment. My photos help people remembering this state of being.
