I made a major career switch from working as a Human Movement Scientist to becoming an outdoor photographer. Before moving from The Netherlands to the Tyrolean mountains, I completed both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Human Movement Sciences at the University of Groningen. These studies gave me deep knowledge of anatomy, physiology, neurology, neuromechanics, and psychology, as well as strong analytical skills for working with datasets and programming computer models for movement analysis.
Although I greatly valued this academic journey, I never fully discovered the field I wanted to dedicate my life to. After graduating, I moved to Kitzbühel, where a completely new world of outside sports and mountain adventures unfolded. This lifestyle of being outdoor active, fit, moving, and connected to nature eventually led me to photography. My link to Human Movement Sciences remains, and I was honoured when Moving Matters, the magazine of Human Movement Sciences, featured my photos on the cover of two editions.
